Theo Jansen

Theo Jansen (He was born in 17 March 1948 in Scheveningen, in the Netherlands ) is an artist and kinetic sculptor living and working in the Netherlands. He builds large works - "Strandbeest" - which resemble skeletons of animals which are able to walk using the wind on the beaches of the Netherlands. His animated works are a fusion of art and engineering.

Theo Jansen (Ele nasceu em 17 de março de 1948, na cidade de Scheveningen, na Holanda) é um artista e escultor cinético holandês. A sua obra é especialmente conhecida pelos trabalhos de grandes dimensões que se assemelham a esqueletos de animais e que são capazes de caminhar utilizando a energia do vento. Theo Jansen (He was born in 17 March 1948 in Scheveningen, in the Netherlands ) is an artist and kinetic sculptor living and working in the Netherlands. He builds large works - "Strandbeest" - which resemble skeletons of animals which are able to walk using the wind on the beaches of the Netherlands. His animated works are a fusion of art and engineering. In a BMW television commercial, Jansen says "The walls between art and engineering exist only in our minds."

Theo Jansen (Ele nasceu em 17 de março de 1948, na cidade de Scheveningen, na Holanda) é um artista e escultor cinético holandês. A sua obra é especialmente conhecida pelos trabalhos de grandes dimensões que se assemelham a esqueletos de animais e que são capazes de caminhar utilizando a energia do vento. As suas obras são uma mistura de arte e engenharia; em um comercial de televisão da BMW, Theo Jansen afirma que "as fronteiras entre arte e engenharia existem apenas em sua mente".
