MY FLOWER IS AMARILLYS!

Many thanks to my friends Guild-rez, Tabor, Xavi and Lúcia Helena, for the identitication of my flower. It's Hippeastrum striatum, from the family Amaryllidaceae. Agradeço muito aos meus amigos Guild-rez, Tabor, Xavi e Lúcia Helena, na identificação da minha flor. Ela é Hippeastrum striatum, da família Amaryllidaceae.

Every year like clock work, this beautiful orange flower blooms in my backyard. I did not plant this flower anywhere else in my garden. I have no idea where it came from... It lays dormant all year long till the spring when them urges it upward. It is Hippeastrum striatum, a genus of about 90 species and 600+ hybrids and cultivars of bulbous plants in the family Amaryllidaceae, native to Brazil.


Todo o ano, com a precisão de um relojinho, este lindo lírio cor de laranja brota no meu quintal. Eu não plantei essa flor e nem sei como ela veio parar aqui no meu jardim... Ela fica adormecida na terra até que na primavera, uma chuvarada a faz brotar. Minha flor é o Hippeastrum striatum, pertence à família Amaryllidaceae. É uma espécie bulbosa endêmica da grande Bacia Amazônica e possui cerca de 55 a 75 espécies, das quais muitas nativas do Brasil.

I took these photos on my backyard. The tree in background is an avocado in full bloom. The seeds will drop to the ground and it will be dormant all year long. Fotografei estas flores em meu quintal. A árvore ao fundo é um abacateiro florido. As sementes irão cair em breve e ficarão dormentes na terra o ano todo.

CIRCUS IN COUNTRY

I really enjoyed these pictures taken by my husband in a Circus that set up camp in Paranapanema, a city near our house. I published those pictures in my other blog, so I think some of you have seen this photos before, but as I've had little time lately to post, I thought it would be interesting to post them here, it's worth seeing again.

Gostei muito das fotos tiradas pelo meu marido de um circo que acampou em Paranapanema, uma cidade próxima da nossa casa. Como já publiquei estas fotos no meu outro blog, penso que alguns de vocês já as viram antes, mas como eu estou tendo pouco tempo ultimamente para postar, achei que vale a pena vê-las de novo.

CUMULONIMBUS

Cumulonimbus is a type of cloud that is tall, dense, and involved in thunderstorms and other intense weather. It is a result of atmospheric instability. These clouds can form alone, in clusters, or along a cold front in a squall line. They create lightning through the heart of the cloud. Cumulonimbus clouds form from cumulus clouds (namely from cumulus congestus) and can further develop into a supercell, a severe thunderstorm with special features.

Os Cumulonimbus são nuvens que se desenvolvem verticalmente até grandes altitudes, podendo chegar a mais de 15 mil metros. Têm a forma de montanhas, torres ou gigantescas couve-flores e são formadas por gotas d’água, cristais de gelo, gotas superesfriadas, flocos de neve e granizo. Há, em seu interior, violentas correntes de vento, ascendentes e descendentes. Todos os pilotos as temem e respeitam.
