NEIL FINN - DRIVING ME MAD & DON'T DREAM IT'S OVER

Neil Mullane Finn (Born 27 May 1958) is a New Zealand singer/songwriter and musician. With his brother Tim Finn, he was the co-frontman for Split Enz, a project that he joined after it was initially founded by Tim and others, and is now frontman for Crowded House. He has also recorded several successful solo albums and assembled diverse musicians for the 7 Worlds Collide project; contributor Ed O'Brien, also guitarist for Radiohead, has hailed Finn as popular music's "most prolific writer of great songs". Finn rose to prominence in the late 1970s with Split Enz and wrote the successful songs "One Step Ahead", "History Never Repeats", "I Got You" and "Message to My Girl", among others. Finn rose to international fame after Split Enz broke up in 1984. While his brother Tim left for England, Neil was the founder of Crowded House with Split Enz's last drummer Paul Hester in 1985. The group achieved international success in 1987 when they released the beautiful single "Don't Dream It's Over", written by Neil.

Finn ficou conhecido no final dos anos 1970 depois de substituir o vocalista e compositor Phil Judd na banda Splitz Enz da qual fazia parte seu irmão Tim Finn. Com o grupo, Finn escreveu os hits "One Step Ahead", History Never Repeats", "I Got You" e Message to My Girl", entre outros. Samuel Timothy "Tim" McGraw (born May 1, 1967) is an American country singer, songwriter and actor. McGraw has ventured into acting, with supporting roles in "The Blind Side", with Sandra Bullock, that has won the best actress Oscar and her first Academy Award in 2010.  "The Blind Side" is a great film and Sandra Bullock is one of my preferred actress!

Samuel Timothy "Tim" McGraw (1 de maio de 1967) é um cantor e compositor norte-americano de música country e também ator. McGraw atuou em "The Blind Side", "Um Sonho Possível", com Sandra Bullock, que ganhou seu primeiro Oscar de melhor atriz em 2010. "Um Sonho Possível" é um ótimo filme e  Sandra Bullock é uma das minhas atrizes preferidas!





  

HARRY NILSSON

Harry Edward Nilsson III (June 15, 1941 – January 15, 1994), usually credited as Nilsson, was an American singer-songwriter who achieved the peak of his commercial success in the early 1970s. His work is characterized by pioneering overdub experiments, returns to the Great American Songbook, and fusions of Caribbean sounds. A tenor with a three-and-a-half octave range, Nilsson was one of the few major pop-rock recording artists of his era to achieve significant commercial success without ever performing major public concerts or undertaking regular tours.

In 2015, Nilsson was voted No. 62 in Rolling Stone's list of "The 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time".  His singles to reach the US top 10 were "Everybody's Talkin'" (1969), "Without You" (1971), and "Coconut" (1972). Nilsson's honors include Grammy Awards for two of his recordings; Best Contemporary Vocal Performance, Male in 1970 for "Everybody's Talkin'", a prominent song in the 1969 film Midnight Cowboy, and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male in 1973 for "Without You".

Pearl Jam is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. Since its inception, the band's line-up has comprised Eddie Vedder (lead vocals), Mike McCready (lead guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar) and Jeff Ament (bass). The band's fifth member is drummer Matt Cameron (also of Soundgarden), who has been with the band since 1998. Boom Gaspar (piano) has also been a session/touring member with the band since 2002. 

Ukulele: The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese machete, a small guitar-like instrument, which was introduced toHawaii by Portuguese immigrants, many fromMadeira and Azores. It gained great popularity elsewhere in the United States during the early 20th century and from there spread internationally.

Ukulele: O ukulele tem sua origem no século XIX tendo como ancestrais o braguinha ou machete e o rajão, instrumentos levados pelos madeirenses, nomeadamente João Fernandes, quando estes emigraram para o Havaí para trabalhar no cultivo da cana-de-açúcar naquelas ilhas. Além de ser utilizado na música tradicional havaiana, o ukulele é bastante utilizado na música popular americana.

I love when I hear the music "I'll Be Seeing You", for the first time, sung by Anne Shelton , times ago when watching the movie Yanks (1979), direted by John Schlesinger, with Richard Gere (so young...), Lisa Eichhorn, Vanessa Redgrave, etc. "I'll Be Seeing You" is a beautiful song composer by Sammy Fain, lyrics by Irvind Kahal and published in 1938. 
Gostei demais quando ouvi a música "I'll Be Seeing You", interpretada por Anne Shelton pela primeira vez , há tempos, ao assistir ao filme "Os Yankees Estão Voltando" (1979), dirigido por John Schlesinger, com Richard Gere, (tão jovem...), Lisa Eichhorn, Vanessa Redgrave entre outros.  "I'll Be Seeing You" é uma linda música, composta por Sammy Fray e  com letra de Irving Kahal, lançada em 1938.

King song of the same name, which plays over the opening and end credits. The film tells the story of four boys who go on a hike across the countryside to view the dead body of a missing child.

The Sheltering Sky, directed by Bernando Bertolucci, is a great movie, one of my favorite movies, starring Debra Winger (she looks extremely gorgeous in this film), John Malkovich and Campbell Scott. I love the music, the actor's performance, the costume design, the scenery, the photography. I watched this film many times...The music composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto is amazingly beautiful! If you have not seen this movie before, I strongly recommend it.
O Céu que nos Protege é um excelente filme, um dos meus favoritos, dirigido por Bernardo Bertolucci e interpretado por Debra Winger (ela está belíssima neste filme), John Malkovich e Campbell Scott. Gosto muito da música, da interpretação dos atores, do figurino, do cenário, da fotografia. Já assisti a este filme muitas vezes... A música composta por Ryuichi Sakamoto é incrivelmente bela! Eu recomendo com entusiasmo para aqueles que ainda não viram este filme.

My mother studied piano since her childwood. She was very talented and through her life she played piano very well. I felt a great pleasure when she sat at the piano and started playing. She loved classic music, principally the Russian composers. The first time I heard Alexander Scriabin's music I was delighted, extremely impressed. Thus, since that time, whenever I hear Scriabin's music, I remember her image at the piano and I missed my mother so much...

Minha mãe estudou piano desde criança. Ela era muito talentosa e durante toda a sua vida, tocou piano com muita sensibilidade. Ela preferia interpretar os clássicos, principalmente os compositores russos. Eu sentia um prazer imenso quando ela se sentava ao piano e começava a tocar. A primeira vez que ouvi minha mãe interpretar Alexander Scriabin, fiquei deleitada, extremamente impressionada. Assim, desde aquele tempo, sempre que eu ouço as músicas de Scriabin, relembro da imagem da minha mãe ao piano e sinto muitas saudades....

I would like to share with all of you a bit of the life and the music of the great Russian composer, Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin, that was born in 7 January, 1872 in Moscow and died in 14 April, 1915, in Moscow. Mystic, visionary, virtuoso, and composer, Scriabin dedicated his life to creating musical works which would, as he believed, open the portals of the spiritual world. Scriabin took piano lessons as a child, joining, in 1884, Nikolay Zverov's class, where Sergey Rachmaninov (1873-1943) was a fellow student. Scriabin started composing during his Conservatory years. Mostly inspired by Chopin, his early works include nocturnes, mazurkas, preludes, and etudes for piano. Typical examples of Romantic music for the piano, these works nevertheless reveal the composer's strong individuality. 
No one was more famous during his lifetime, and few were more quickly ignored after his death. Although he was never absent from the mainstream of Russian music, the outside world neglected him until recently. Today, there is worldwide resurgence of interest in his music and ideas.
For some time before his death Scrianbin had planned a multi-media work, to be performed in the Himalayas. This piece, Mysterium, was never realized. Immediately upon Scriabin's sudden death, Sergey Rachmaninov toured Russia in a series of all-Scriabin recitals. It was the first time he played music other than his own in public.

Eu gostaria de compartilhar com vocês um pouco da vida e da música do grande compositor russo, Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin, nascido em 7 janeiro de 1872, em Moscou, morreu em 14 de abril de 1915, também em Moscou. Místico, visionário, virtuoso e compositor, Scriabin dedicou sua vida à criação de obras musicais que, como ele acreditava, abririam as portas ao mundo espiritual. Scriabin estudou piano desde criança, ingressando em 1884 na classe do professor Nikolay Zverov, onde o compositor russo Sergey Rachmaninov (1873-1943) também estudou. Scriabin começou a compor já nos primeiros anos do Conservatório. Suas primeiras composições, principalmente inspiradas por Chopin, incluíam noturnos, mazurcas, prelúdios e estudos para piano. Exemplos típicos da música romântica escrita para piano, suas composições revelam um compositor de forte individualidade. O desenvolvimento do estilo pessoal de Scriabin pode ser acompanhado através de suas dez sonatas para piano. As primeiras são românticas e revelam a influência de Chopin e Franz Liszt, mas as suas últimas composições inauguram um novo território, sendo que as últimas cinco que ele escreveu podem ser chamadas de atonais. Ninguém foi mais famoso durante a vida como Scriabin e poucos foram tão rapidamente ignorados depois da morte, como ele. Imediatamente após a morte súbita de Scriabin, Sergey Rachmaninov realizou uma turnê pela Rússia, numa série de recitais, interpretando as músicas de Scriabin. Esta foi a primeira vez que Rachmaninov tocou uma música em público que não fosse uma composição sua.
