I am reposting that post I did in August 12, 2013 in its entirety since I like to rethink about these wise quotes and because I enjoy so much these flowers and tree I have in my garden too.
Eu estou postando novamente este post que fiz em 12 de agosto de 2013 pois gosto de repensar nestas sábias palavras e também porque gosto muito destas flores e desta árvore do meu jardim.
Every year this beautiful orange flower blooms in my backyard. I did not plant this flower anywhere else in my garden. I have no idea where it came from... It lays dormant all year long till the spring when them urges it upward. It is Hippeastrum striatum, from the family Amaryllidaceae, native to Brazil.
Todo o ano, este lindo lírio brota no meu quintal. Eu não plantei essa flor e nem sei como ela veio parar aqui... Seu bulbo fica adormecido no interior da terra até que na primavera, uma chuvarada a faz brotar. Ela é o Hippeastrum striatum, pertencente à família Amaryllidaceae, nativa do Brasil.
“All the diversity, all the charm, and all the beauty of
life are made up of light and shade.” ― Leo Tolstoy,
Anna Karenina.
This
beautiful and extremely scented and fragrant tree, native from Brazil, is knows
as Copperpod or Yellow Flame, in Portuguese "Sibipiruna",
scientific name: Caesalpinia
peltophorides.

ReplyDeleteCara Sonia,
ReplyDeleteainda bem que "relembrou" estas imagens que ainda não conhecia.
"tempo e paciência"!
Abraço
Lovely to see your garden again.... all white here! But rain forecast for tomorrow so I hope it all melts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful plants, pictures and quotes!
ReplyDeleteI grow an Amarylis in a pot. After it blooms indoors, I set it outside for the summer and let it grow. Then in the Fall I bring it indoors and put it in a dark closet for 2 months. I've just potted it up again - a little late for Christmas flowers. It must be so nice to have them just growing in your garden.
Such touching words, Sonia and so relevant to me at this time in my life.
ReplyDeleteI can feel little pin-pricks of tears in my eyes.

A beleza é assim _feita de muitos tons!

Hello Sonia !
ReplyDeleteI'am back on the web.
Very beautiful flower and tree.
A year one of my sons gave me an Amaryllis. It had a very pretty color and gave me five flowers.
The year after only two leaves.
I just saw some very pretty flowers and trees in Martinique Island.
I'm glad you reposted. Wise quotes and beautiful flowers. Beijos
ReplyDeleteYou have such beautiful flowers and trees in your garden. I just finished reading War and Peace a few weeks ago, so your quote is timely. Happy Thanksgiving - is it a holiday you celebrate?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteHi Sonia, I am Nancy. This is my 1st visit to your photo. Happen to pick you through Linda's blog. Your flower and tree picture are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post, Sonia.
ReplyDeleteI never knew amaryllis were native to Brasil - they are so beautiful.
We enjoy them at Christmas here as indoor treats!
Buster sends warm greetings your way!

The tree is gorgeous! I've had those lilies before and they will keep coming back and multiplying. It sounds mysterious how a bulb made its way into your yard. Certainly a pretty surprise though.
