I saw last February on Wooster Collective some interesting and creative sculptures made by the urban sculptor Nick Georgiou. This New York artist creates strange creatures out of the stitched folds of thousands of discarded newspapers. Just amazing! You must to visit his blog: Nick Georgiou

Wow! That is neat - and you've captured them very nicely.
ReplyDeleteLots of work to get a reaction. I liked the reaction of the man walking the dog. And the dog was also looking.
ReplyDeleteHow creative!!
ReplyDeleteThose are definitely unique in the world of sculpture. It's just so interesting to see what creative minds come up with!
ReplyDeleteSonia, dear, what a fabulous find! Georgiou's work is remarkable. Wow! I love the way the doggy in the third photo looks a that very strange creature :). Photo #8 is very cool too. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead. Hugs. :)
Sonia, you've done it again!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you find these things?
Incredible work but a bit creepy.
Imagine the time that went into creating them.
Very interesting sculpture! out of newspaper no less...some people are very creative..
ReplyDeleteAs a journalist, Mr. Georgiou's work touches me very, very deeply. Thank you for sharing his genius with us. I wish I could encounter his work spontaneously on the street!
ReplyDeleteThese are really quite remarkable works of art. Very creative and highly inventive. The facial features, especially the eyes, are very arresting. Excellent find Sonia.
ReplyDeleteGrande achado, Sonia. Muito criativa a escultura, e muito boa sua postagem.
ReplyDeleteBjs e boa semana.
How fabulous! This sort of reminds me of the books that book artists often create, using materials that one does not often associate with books. I love the one of that dog freaking out at the sculpture, lol.
ReplyDeleteVery provocative!
ReplyDeleteoh what a curious guy - - i love the photos of him among people passing by.
ReplyDeleteThese are WONDERFUL, Sonia....So imaginative...and he gets so much "feeling" into each piece----it is almost scary...! You find the BEST Artists Sonia....Amazing!

I had never heard or seen these before, so I'm glad you did a post on the topic. I'm not sure I care for the creatures aesthetically, but I do think they're fun!

ReplyDeleteWow! How amazing! I cannot imagine the patience involved in making these creatures. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteI knew furniture made of corrugated paper but nothing about animals made of newspapers! They are wonderful in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAnd happy belated anniversary to your blog, Sonia! Thank you for visiting mine so often!

ReplyDeleteVery interesting, Sonia. I wouldn't say it's beautiful art, but interesting.
His fingers must be black. I can't stand the feel of newspaper... :o)
Sonia, sensacional as "esculturas" do artista Nick Giorgiou, em Nova Yotk, feitas de papel de jornal.
ReplyDeleteComo sempre, excelente bom gosto nos seus posts.
Um abraço, e até mais.
These are really nice Sonia, my son was curious and asking questions, watch, he'll try something next week, hehee, he loves paper things. Take care!
ReplyDeleteVery original! One way to recycle paper ;-)
ReplyDeleteAmazing art! Came over here from Cathy's blog...so glad to see such wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteI know Arnaldo Pomodoro's art and job. Honestly I find his job mono-theme. By the way the art is pure.
ReplyDeleteOf course, as Italian, let me say I prefer to see photos about your country and / or concerning your culture, use and tradition.
Ah... Didn't ring your ears? (We are used to say that when someone seems "to think" to us). I was in Lisboa the first week of the month and I have to say I love so so much Portuguese. Maybe Brasilian is a bit different from Portuguese spoken in Portugal by the way your language is so... Intriguing if listened by an italian. We may understand some words reading it but not listening it. Then Lisboa is ssssooo beautiful. I hope one day to visit Brasil too !!!
Thanks for all the comments. Keep up the great blogging Sonia, You've created a great virtual community here. Those new trees are tremendous!
