This beautiful tree in my garden is a native tree from Brazil, named Canafístula or Chuva-de-Ouro (mean in English "Rain of Gold"). The Cassia ferruginea, from the family Leguminosae-Caesalpinoideae, bears the most flagrant flowers, which are arranged in hanging racemes. The flowers appear in October, November and December. Beside the Chuva-de-Ouro stands the exuberant Mango Tree.

ReplyDeleteHi, Sonia,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading all your posts to my blog, especially that you share my memories (horrible though they may be!) of having ether.
Now this Rain of Gold tree of yours, that is beautiful, and I'm wondering if it is related to a tree we have called laburnum http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consumer/factsheets/trees-new/laburnum_anagyroides.html
It looks like a smaller version of yours. (Sorry I couldn't figure out how to make that a live link)
The blossoms on the tree look like orchids. They are sublime!
ReplyDeleteThank you Slap me silly sally, for your comment!
