Homeless and their pets. These are moving photos that express much love and much friendship! Hundreds of thousands of homeless around the world own pets, a sign of just how
important animals can be to us. Here are some testimonies I found on the web about homeless and their pets:
Os sem-teto e seus animais de estimação. Estas comoventes fotos expressam muito amor e amizade! Centenas de milhares de sem-teto ao redor do mundo cuidam com carinho de seus animais de estimação, um sinal de como os animais são importantes para nós, seres humanos. Recolhi na web alguns testemunhos que expressam essa relação de amor e amizade:

"It’s a companion. It’s unconditional love. It’s their best friend. In some ways, it will give people a reason to carry on.”
"The dog doesn't know he's 'homeless'. This man may be alone, but he has
companionship. It's just enough to keep him going.Though he may have little else,
this man has one good, loyal friend and companion. Blessings are where you find
them."
"Roof or no roof, when they go to sleep tonight, they’ll be together."
"But imagine taking care of a dog when you have no shelter, no yard, no vehicle and little money. Where do you find food and water? What happens when the animal gets sick?"
"Homeless are people who still have hopes to rebound and the last thing they want to do is give up their pets."
"Most homeless shelters don't allow animals, forcing homeless pet owners to stay on the streets".
"Love my dog, he is my family."
This is a very touching and important issue: about the homeless and about their pets. What do you think about that?

Cara Sonia,
ReplyDeleteBelo post!
Abraço
I can understand the homeless keeping their dogs. Our pets are very special to us, I can't imagine giving up my little Socks no matter what happens. He's always happy to be with me!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this, Sonia. I linked to your post on my Facebook page. So many things to say about this, but words fail for the moment.
LINDO!!! beijos, chica
ReplyDeleteThis is such a touching post, Sonia....i understand with all my heart why all of these people have pets---whether a dog or a cat....the companionship and unconditional love makes it possible to go on under circumstances so horrific....it is almost unimaginable. I know how much your dear Flora meant to you and you know how much Sweetie meant to me----it is Heartbreaking to think of what happens if and when they lose their dear dear companions.....
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this, dear Sonia....I found it so very meaningful....The pictures tell the whole story, don't they?
Hugs to you, my dear....You have such a big Heart.
beautiful post. we always go to the pet store to get some food when we see homeless with pets. we give money to the human and bring food for the dog.
ReplyDeleteVery moving post, Sonia!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOh sonia, these amazing images squeezed my heart and touched me so deeply.
ReplyDeleteIt is so evident that the homeless people adore their animal companions and I would not doubt that they would ensure they get the all food when food is short. Thank God, all the animals looked well fed. I do wonder what happens if the animals need medical attention.
I can imagine how doing this post affected you as well.
Much love
Rose
What wonderful pictures but made me feel very sad - both for the people and the animals!
ReplyDeleteWhat stories there must be behind each one.
I feel bad for the poor animals out on the street in all weathers. So many of the beggars have mental problems. I worry about all of them!
Buster is glad he has a home.
Oi Mãe! :)
Homeless people and their pets - heartbreaking. I wish I could help all.
ReplyDeleteI think these dogs provide a non-judgmental friend and companion for these people. Boom, Bobbi and Gary.
ReplyDeleteDogs and cats don't criticize or disapprove. They give so much love and are loved in return, no matter where their home is, on the street or in a million dollar mansion. I'm sure these pets are well looked after.... they are a much needed companion to those people who have no other hope.
ReplyDeleteThis touched my heart. Thank you Sonia, I must put a link to it on my blog tomorrow. I want everyone to see it.
ReplyDeleteBless you for touching my heart.
ReplyDeleteSonia I popped over from Ingers Blog you have touched my heart I think we forget about the homeless people and animals that comfort them when we go about our lives. Thank you. B
ReplyDeleteI posted this to my Facebook also Sonia. B

Comovente Sonia!
beijos!
WHat a touching post.
ReplyDeleteWe all need something to love and to love us back. I love the high 5-ing guitarist and his cat.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with them all. Inger blessed my day by sending me to your blog. Thanks.
Just goes to show that everyone needs companionship. Beautiful

ReplyDeleteThe pictures you posted are wonderful! Dogs are unique in the way they help people and I am glad for those homeless ones that they have those fabulous companions, But the photos made me weep. "There but for the grace of God, go I."
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. I think the homeless have a right to pets whether they acquired them after being homeless or have had them. I see them every so often. I also have seen people who carry dog food with them in small bags; so when the homeless person is asking for money, they can give the pet food. The animals always look well-cared for at least all the ones I've seen have. Like they get taken care of before the owner in some cases.
ReplyDeleteLoving animals as I do, seeing them as so important in enjoying life, I'd not deny them to anyone.

Heartbreaking. Such a moving and emotional post Sonia. The pictures say it all. Those cats and dogs love their humans and the humans need and love their pets. I am sure for most of them, their pets are all they have. Wow, just leaves me with a feeling that I need to do more to help. I am going to link this to my facebook Sonia.
