TREES UPROOTED... ÁRVORES ARRANCADAS...

It is so sad to see these beautiful and tall trees uprooted by a violent rainstorm two months ago. Photos taken in my backyard.

É muito triste ver estas lindas e altas árvores arrancadas pela raiz por uma violenta tempestade dois meses atrás. Fotos tiradas no meu quintal.

  1. Sonia, I am sorry to see trees uprooted by a storm but I'd rather see nature uproot her own trees than have them destroyed by people. Not that that's any consolation.

    You have quite a yard!

  3. That is so sad. They were big trees. What will you do with the wood?

  4. yes, this is really sad. Especially when it comes to solitary and beautiful trees.

  5. I would be sad to see those trees uprooted if they were in my backyard. I do agree with Petrea's comment, at least it was nature doing her thing, not man.

  6. Cara Sonia,
pena que não tenham resistido às forças da natureza. Parece que as tempestades se vão tornando mais frequentes e cada vez mais extremas. Consequências da nossa pouca atenção no que respeita às profundas alterações que fomos provocando.

  7. Nice shots, but it is sad to see something like this. A couple of years ago we had a large fall of very heavy snow, and there were many trees in the neighborhood park that were damaged and destroyed. But a couple of years later you'd never know!

  8. Oh My Dear Sonia....it is so very sad! We have just had a terrible Wind Storm here in Los Angeles and many many trees got uprooted and fell on peoples roofs, etc....
It is sad and kind of frightening, too....! I'm sorry you lost these beautiful trees, my dear.

  9. oh that's sad to see the trees downed. we've had violent winds here lately too. I love storms but I don't want anything to be damaged. It's good to know that they will be returned to the earth though. the cycle of life is truly beautiful. happy weekend to you.

  10. I looked at your daughter and Brahma and you are right, his color and face are so much like Soldier's. It is sad that you lost the trees. You have a beautiful blog here. Thanks for visiting mine.

  11. Its always sad to see anything going down and its even more sad to see a large tree go down. When one is in hospital in critical care he/she understands the importance of Oxygen that they receives from those machines but We tend to underestimate these trees who so selfless create all that Oxygen for us everyday.
But as they say nothing is permanent but Change. Hope a new tree will come up in the years to come

  12. I too agree with Petrea. Mother Nature must have had a reason? It's so hard to see big trees come down, no matter why... the landscape changes so much. Hope you're having a good weekend, Sonia. xx

  13. Whenever I see a tree blown over, I am always surprised by how small the root ball is.
I always imagine trees having huge, long, strong roots.
But even the massive gum trees that blow over down here never seem to have big roots.

  14. Oh NO..I can just imagine their little roots hurting :( BUT I guess it's nature and the strongest survived!

  15. I always forget that when it's summer in Brazil, it's Winter in NYC!
No bagels? We don't have any decent mojitos, so we're even! :)

  16. Very nice pictures, Sonia, it's really sad and striking to see these tall trees so violently uprooted.
    Happy Sunday!

  18. What amazes me, since I've seen hundreds of uprooted trees this week, is that the roots are cut off at such a shallow point. The botany, the science, of that escapes me. Are the roots so thin as they penetrate the soil beyond the first five inches or so?

  19. So incredible that the storms are so powerful and can uproot the trees.

  21. Sonia, I'm sorry to see your tree fall down. They become part of the family in our gardens. It's difficult to see that happen in my own garden.

  22. Oh, that is sad indeed. I am sorry you lost them, but glad that they apparently did not fall on your house! Sonia, I have a "guest blogger" email address that will put your post and photo right into my drafts folder. I prefer not to post it here, because a spammer could see it and start putting things directly into my blogger drafts folder. Can you send me your email address? Send your address to bloominbATyahoo.com, using the symbol there... and I will send you the blogger address. I am really looking forward to a Flora story! And, no rush. You could do it this month or next month or whenever... no pressure at all.

  24. Oh, such beautiful trees! I guess it's part of nature though. You probably know we lost many grand trees here in the Pasadena area last week from a wind storm so I feel your sense of loss. Your yard is still beautiful and lush! Have a lovely weekend, dear Sonia.
