Painting by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri (1591-1666), best known as Guercino, was an Italian Baroque painter.
Aurora is the Latin word for dawn, the goddess of dawn in Roman Mythology and Latin Poetry. Aurora is comparable to the Greek goddess Eos. Aurora renews herself every morning and flies across the sky, announcing the arrival of the sun.

Ok, the garden view is too beautiful to be believed. So we'll leave it for now before serious envy creeps in.
ReplyDeleteAbout the painting. Before there was motion or perhaps it's call stop and start photography, artists believed horses galloped this way -- with the two legs reaching out front and two hooves stretched behind. Sort of a swinging motion. Rabbit-like.
Only after the horse's motion was slowed and captured by photography did they realize the legs had a one-two-three-four action, with each one acting independently, and there is always one hoof on the ground.
Your beautiful picture make us feel soooo serene!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
Kisses and hugs
