When I walk around the town I used to look to the buildings and check out the architecture. Several residences were converted to commercial use and there is a contrast between the first and second floor of those buildings and the commercial level at ground floor. A visual contrasts between the old and the new... All photos were taken by my husband and myself in Avaré, State of São Paulo, Brazil.
Parabens!
I like the buildings on the corner that are rounded off, and the yellow one with the art deco look.
ReplyDeleteI saw a word I recognized:
churrascaria - we have a restaurant here - Rio Churrascaria - but I've never been there.
Hi Sonia,
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting mix of architecture. Your pictures give us a nice little peek at this town.
Thanks for sharing!
xo
Very interesting buildings some of them look very old I really like the one that has Drogasil on the front.
ReplyDeleteSo many different styles - each beautiful in its own way - even the older ones must have looked great when first erected. Love the top of the building in the third photo from the top.
ReplyDeleteI looked at those other houses too Sonia on the other post of November 2006 - the intricacies of the different architectures are just delightful.
Such beautiful photos again Sonia.
ReplyDeletebeijos
Again, Sonia...I am Fascinated by the "details" on all these buildings, weather in the special additions or the shapes and as in todays post, the colors, too!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!
very interesting series
ReplyDeletewonderful set of pictures!
ReplyDeleteReally nice to see all these old buildings still there, although the present use of the ground floors not always has changed them to the better!
ReplyDeleteOh that yellow building is FABULOUS.
ReplyDeleteI'll take that one please!
Can't you just see me waving to you from the balcony!?
Impõe-se, desde já, uma colecção de postais!
ReplyDeleteSão lindíssimas estas fotos.
How interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love all the white buildings against the sparkling blue sky.
I love the simplicity and colors of these buildings. And they are so clean. Even the streets are clean.
ReplyDeleteI wish NYC's streets are as clean.
Very appealing series. I love to see how and where people live in different parts of the world. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are very crisp Sonia and so is the sun adding to the vibrant colours. Enjoy the sunshine Sonia, hope you are doing fine
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sequence of images! It seems really to be there, very involving, very well done.
ReplyDeleteA very nice visit ! Thanks !
Boa semana! Beijus

Jeanne ^j^
Boas fotografias.
ReplyDeleteAlguns edifícios com uma interessante arquitectura.
Muito bem.
I love this series. This is my first time visiting your blog, wonderful. I'll be back, soon. Thank you for the king comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI Love buildings! Like you said the 'pretty' ones and the 'not so pretty' that is what makes it so interesting! I put a few on my blog yesterday in my western 'gold rush' part of the world!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful stroll around your town, Sonia! The buildings have so much character. It's interesting to see the people going about their business, and the cars..I noticed the old VW bug in the last photo. I saw one go by our house just the other day, but it's rare to see them these days. I used to have a red one before I was married :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tour!
Sonia,
ReplyDeleteimpressiona-me a conservação das casas, a limpeza das ruas. Isto é SP, né!
Beijos!
Sonia, thanks SOOOO much for these beautiful posts, and the one of São José do Rio Pardo too. The variety of buildings, the colours, decorative details, just GREAT!!! That one on your new header with the sugar candy colours against the deep blue sky is stunning.

Hi Sonia, this is a wonderful selection of old buildings. Great post
ReplyDeleteSuch contrasts in all these buildings and structures! I love the one that you posted on your header the best! I suppose it is the cheery color!
ReplyDeleteThank you for giving us a glimpse of your surroundings! :)NG
Gostei. E o Instituto dos Aposentados do Brasil?! Cacau Mix!
ReplyDeleteUm show de post, Sonia. Adorei.
Beautiful architecture!
ReplyDeleteWhat fascinates me most, though, is the absence of any tree or bush or even weeds.
The photograph of old city architecture that bagus. i love it, Sonia.
ReplyDeleteRegadrs from Yogyakarta Indonesia.
Sonia
ReplyDeleteDefinitivamente, Avaré é tudo de bom!
