WEIRD HABITS

I have been tagged to do this blogsphere game called “Five Weird Habits,” by Jude from Long-Toothed Hinterland Dweller at December 22, 2005. I'm to list more than five habits of mine and this is just weird, isn’t? Many habits I have are weird, another I think it’s just normal habits! LOL! For better or worse, my secrets are out! So here’s my list. Notice: this list is a "work in progress"!
I can’t start the day without my cup of coffee with milk, always very hot, without sugar or diet sugar. And I love toast. I will post soon (with photos) my very easy recipe of coffee with milk, very creamy and yummy!

I like to sleep with some weak light on. I don't like complete darkness.

I keep a bottle of water by my bed at night, just in case I wake up dying of thirst. And I always did!
I can't leave the house without my earring on.

I don’t use watch.

I take the longer showers possible.
I must to dye my hair monthly. I don't want anyone to see my grey!
I am a blogger and addicted to it.

I love to read blogs with post neat and legible. I prefer larger print than "tiny" and a lighter background or a good contrast. My eyes don't be comfortable with tiny prints.

I love my computer, it’s a DELL and I hate to share my computer . (My husband has his own PC)

I don’t like read or write if there's some talk around me.

I don’t like work in a messy workspace and I don’t like cook in a messy kitchen.

I talk to my dog Flora because she really can understand me.

I love so much Flora, but she never jumps on my bed or sleeps with me. Update: yesterday Flora jumped on my bed and waved her tail very happy! She looks like a spoiled child, and the way she contradicts me was just hilarious (LOL)!
I check out twice the stove, the iron and the door before leave the house or when going to bed at night. I think these are probably mild OCD! May be this is the explication to love so much MONK!

I knock on wood three times in the case of a bad thought, for “isolated” bad things to happens.

I must watching TV everyday. I always have a virgin cassette on video, just in case I must record any interesting issue. I think this is my journalist’s characteristic and feelings.

When my husband goes to São Paulo and I’m home alone, only at night I will turn on the TV even though I’m not really watching it. I just need the background voices to make me companion.

I have been always reading books, magazines and newspaper, but I don’t consider absolutely the bathroom a library.
My books are arranged on shelves by genre and by alphabetical order.
I enjoy smell news books. They smell so good!
I never leave the house for a long drive without a book, a pen and a notebook.
I love music but I don’t like to have music always on or always playing somewhere. I hate incidental music at restaurants, hairdresser, elevator, doctor’s office and so on.
I don’t like loud music, except in very special occasions.
My eating habits had been always healthier but I have greatly improved in recent years. I rarely eat meat, (this habits has more than eight years) but I eat poultry and fish.
I never drink none liquor. Nothing against who did it, but I don’t like the taste of any liquor.
Every morning I take many vitamins and minerals supplements.
If something is on or past its sell-by date, I won't eat or drink it.
I don’t have small habits like hair twiddling, nail biting, repeated sniffing and/or throat clearing, tics as crack fingers, toes and other joints, and compulsive tapper with fingers and feet.
I don't have habits like smoking and gambling.
PS: If you Google the phrase "Five Weird Habits” you will get many pages of oddness. It’s hilarious and a great relief , because you just think: “Lucky me, I am a normal person”!

PLACES AROUND THE WORLD

I have been tagged by Judith from "Knitagarden" and also by Wendy from "The Tasmanian Trail"! These are my answers.

Four places I'd rather be right now (or I'd like to go on vacation)

  • First, so simple and so true: I’d rather be …. where I am now: at home.
  • Second, I wish I could afford a cozy flat in São Paulo to go there when I wanted to. I wish I get it soon!

  • Third, I would love to know all my blogosphere’s friends around the world! Who knows some day ...

  • And last but not least, I would like to know many countries and many places. The countries are in alphabetic order. I wish to know many others ...

FILMS I LOVE!

  • Four movies I could watch over and over.
It’s impossible to mention only four! I recommend strongly these ten:

A PASSAGE TO INDIA

A Passage to India (1984)
Directed by David Lean, based on the novel of the same name
by E. M. Forster, published 1924.
Cast: Judy Davis, Victor Banerjee, Peggy Ashcroft, James Fox, Alec Guinness.

I love this film and it's my preferred ! I found a beautiful and complete site about "A Passage to India", with many photos, plot, script, locations, links, etc.

The music in this film is composed by Maurice Jarre and it is very beautiful. If you want to hear the music, go to http://www.epdlp.com/films.php?film=p% and click on "Passage a la India". This is a great site and it's worthy a visit.

The film is set in colonial India in 1924. Adela Quested (Judy Davis), a sheltered, well-educated British woman, arrives in the town of Chandrapore, where she hopes to experience "the real India". Here she meets and befriends Dr. Aziz (Victor Banerjee), who, despite longstanding racial and social taboos, moves with relative ease and freedom amongst highborn British circles.

THE STRAIGHT STORY

The Straight Story (1999)
Directed by David Lynch
Cast:
Richard Farnsworth and Sissy Spacek
The Straight Story is based on a real event in the life of a real person. Alvin Straight (1921-1996) lived quietly until he went on an unusual journey that put him in the spotlight. The Laurens resident took a 240-mile road trip -on a lawn mower. At 73, Straight wanted to see his brother, Henry, whom he hadn't spoken to for almost a decade.

I love so much this film and there is beautiful quotes about family and old age:

Alvin: I'd give each one of 'em a stick and, one for each one of 'em, then I'd say, 'You break that.' Course they could real easy. Then I'd say, 'Tie them sticks in a bundle and try to break that.' Course they couldn't. Then I'd say, "That bundle... that's family."

Alvin Straight: You don't think about getting old when you're young... you shouldn't.
Cyclist #1: Must be something good about gettin' old?
Alvin Straight: Well I can't imagine anything good about being blind and lame at the same time but, still at my age I've seen about all that life has to dish out. I know to separate the wheat from the chaff, and let the small stuff fall away.
Cyclist #2: So, uh, what's the worst part about being old, Alvin?
Alvin Straight: Well, the worst part of being old is rememberin' when you was young.

BRASÍLIA was constructed between 1956 and 1960, during the government of President Juscelino Kubitschek. It was inaugurated, as Brazil's new capital, on April 21, 1960. Its master plan ("Plano Piloto") was conceived by Lucio Costa, and its major buildings were designed by Oscar Niemeyer.
