Paraphrasing: "Aging is losing some illusions (being optimistic), and it would be great to acquire another".
"Crescer é perder algumas ilusões, para adquirir outras". Virginia Woolf.
Parafraseando: "Envelhecer é perder algumas ilusões (sendo otimista) e seria muito bom adquirir outras."

ReplyDeleteThat looks like a pretty garden. And don't get me started on optimism vs pessimism - I'm rather pessimistic about our planet's future ability to support us.
ReplyDeleteThat is a Beautiful picture....!
ReplyDeleteI am, unfortunately, a 'glass have empty' kind of person---And that is just how it is. Of course there are times when I see life the other way....But, if I am honest, I really feel I will always be a 'glass half empty' person....And that's okay with me. It better be okay---I'm 82!!! (lol)
Quite an effect the aqueduct has, towering as it does over the lush gardens.
ReplyDeleteThanks to the fact I'm a regular visitor to this blog, I recognized it as Portugal right away.
ReplyDeleteSonia, it's very nice the photo of the Botanical Garden taken by your daughter Sofia, I'll click the link to see the other image. Beautiful the header too!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo with a vista which can accommodate visions lost, as well as those visions waiting to be acquired.
ReplyDeleteHi again Sonia! Great picture, goes well with the quote, it gives a vision of hope. I went to see your last year's post and is amazing! What a beautiful garden and your daughter is soo pretty!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I like your Woolf saying. Where I'm at - growing old is losing all illusions thanks to dementia setting in ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment which I finally saw this morning. Have not been checking into the blog at all. I hope my pigdog is good. We haven't heard from Orry, the man who is looking after her which I suppose is good news. He's not much into emails!
Abraços grandes! Beijos! X
