Update:
Hi Karin, I found an sculpture of Arnaldo Pomodoro in Los Angeles. It is the sculpture outside of the John Ferraro building (Department of Water and Power) in Downtown Los Angeles. The sculpture is called "Colpo d'ala".
I saw for the first time on New York Daily Photo this amazing sculpture, "Sfera Con Sfera", created by the Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro. In the occasion (October 11, 2007) I did a post about Pomodoro and now I repost it with news pictures for those who did not see it yet. Arnaldo Pomodoro was born on June 23, 1926 in Morciano, Italy and currently lives and works in Milan. For see more photos visit the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro.

The Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Suspended twenty-eight feet over the altar is a corona or crown 14 feet in diameter, designed by Arnaldo Pomodoro in collaboration with Giuseppe Maraniello, who created the figure of Christ that completes the piece. Interesting and beautiful sculptures.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very talented and distinctive sculptor. I haven't heard of him before but I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteFascinating sculptures!
ReplyDeleteInteresting sculptures!
ReplyDeleteGreetings, RW & SK

ReplyDeleteKisses and hugs

The Sphere is a nice way to represent Humanity and Hope.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful of course.
You know I LOVE Pomedoro's work, and I own a little Sphere---It is a very small edition, there are only three of this particular edition. I've had this small sphere for at least 35 or 40 years---maybe longer I remember the post you did about Pomedoro and it is GREAT to see more of his work....I LOVE that one that is shaped like a Christmas Tree....But I think I will always be partial to the Spheres.....Thanks for this wonderful reminder of this truly GREAT Sculptor, dear Sonia.
ReplyDeletewhat marvellous sculptures, I wish I could touch them!
ReplyDeleteSo interesting, Sonia!
ReplyDeleteArnaldo Pomodoro is always amazing: in Turin, in corso Maroncelli, there is the sculpture "Triade" (like the "Triade" in your seventh image).
Thanks Sonia for sharing these incredible and amazing sculptures. Best Wishes Ram
ReplyDeleteBelíssimas esculturas, uma mais que a outra! beijos, obrigadão pelos carinhos, chica
ReplyDeleteIt's inspiring to see an artist follow their distinctive, personal vision to creation.
ReplyDeleteNice surprise to see that vision in a winery.
thank you for the introduction -- I love his work. Now I need to see if I can find something of his in LA.

Thanks for the idea!
Wow, thanks for introducing us to this great artist! We realized the "Triade" photo was taken in Lugano, near where we live. The landscape looked familiar! :)
ReplyDeleteNext time I'm in L.A. . . .
ReplyDeleteThat's the Music Center in the background. The surrealistic building in the right background is Walt Disney Hall, designed by Frank Gheary. What a place for music. :-)
I think his art is WONDERFUL!
ReplyDeleteImpressive pieces of Pomodoro, love his vision of mix technology and different materials to create art! Thanks for sharing. Abrazos
ReplyDeleteI could look at these for a long while and not get tired of them.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's fabulous. It looks like a metronome. (And I've seen it in person, but never knew the artist until today!)
ReplyDeleteThe piece in the Cathedral in Milwaukee is appealing to me. I don't think the addition of the Christ figure is necessary, The crown is all thats needed.
ReplyDeleteThese sculptures invite you to just stare at them... so interesting. i have never heard of this artist. Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteEsculturas imponentes e muito originais. Fiquei a conhecer mais um escultor que não conhecia.
ReplyDeleteObrigada pela partilha.
Um beijinho
spéctaculair!
