MATEJ KRÉN's work is remarkable for its exceptional scope. In recent years his distinctive approach to sculpture, object, installation, drawing, print, painting, action art, film, music, sound and word has attracted attention at many prestigious international art shows.
"Book-Cell"
The Book Cell Project, repeats the recurring procedure, in the work of this artist, of piling up thousands of books, creating an architectonic structure where we are invited to step inside.

"Passage" 2006
The "Passage" represents a kind of symbolic "short cut across the world" in which we exist or dwell: through the factual, real world into the world of human culture, where reality is exchanged for another - virtual - reality, for the reality of word, text, sign, symbol, image, and back again. The project itself is a metaphorical synthesis of a number of formal semantic elements: an entrance, a path, "endless walls" of books, mirrors, light, an exit and even the physical presence of the viewers themselves.

I am not sure I like too much the idea of piling books... It reminds me of an ad in Arizona, USA asking us to recycle the books we had read in the recycling bin!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you! So creative, stunning, and symbolic. I've seen books arranged to create a coffee table before, but never whole rooms.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome - I've never seen anything like it before. Those books must weigh a ton (or probably several). I never would have thought of using books like this, I just read them. But that's why I'm not an artist!
ReplyDeleteIncrível! Adorei ver! E agora vi que entro normalmente por esse blog que é o que aparece na lista Reader. beijos, chica
ReplyDeleteAh, livros!!!
ReplyDeleteAdorei o post e a arte, mamis!
Muitos beijos, saudades :)
Perfect art work for those of us who love books!
ReplyDeleteNow these things I really like! They are so creative and fun what with all the different configurations. The biggest problem I see would be if someone came in and wanted a book at the bottom of the pile and pulled it out! ;) Just kidding.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by our blog today and for your kind comment!
That is amazing! I had no idea your header was of books.

ReplyDeleteCreative, artistic and unique - much enjoyed post.
ReplyDeleteHow are you Sonia?
It's an interesting commentary (in our kindalized world) on the disappearance and subsequent re-use of the written word. I recall when they got rid of the Libraries card catalogue system in favor of going digital. A Los Angeles artist gathered them up and plastered the sides of our central library elevator shaft with them. The elevator box?? was made clear on the sides so you could see them coming and going.
ReplyDeletewhoa! that is incredibly creative. awesome.
ReplyDeletebtw you asked about the longest beach according to guinness. it's praia do cassino at 254 km.
I'm glad you reposted this, since I did not see it the first time. Thank you! I love it! :-D
