Minha filha Sofia na praia de Matosinhos, localizada a 1 km ao norte de Nevogilde, perto do Porto de Leixões, a 8 km ao sul do Porto, em Portugal. Leixões é o maior porto artificial de Portugal e principal porto marítimo da Área Metropolitana do Porto, localizado a 4 km ao norte da foz do rio Douro, no município de Matosinhos.
Matosinhos is a Portuguese city belonging to the Porto District, Northern Region and sub-region of the Great Port. Yet belong to the Great Metropolitan Area of Porto. The municipality with an area of 62,30 km² (24.0 sq mi) has a population of 175,478 (2011), in 10 parishes.
Matosinhos é uma cidade portuguesa pertencente ao Distrito do Porto, Região Norte e sub-região do Grande Porto. Pertence ainda à Grande Área Metropolitana do Porto. É sede de um município com 62,30 km² de área e 175. 478 habitantes (2011), subdividido em 10 freguesias.

At left we can see the Forte of São Francisco Xavier, also known as "Castle of the Cheese," "Castelo do Queijo" in Portuguese. It is a castle/fort in Porto, Portugal. This fort is placed in the sea side near and the wall facing the sea is often hit by the waves depending on the tides. The fort was given the name of Castelo do Queijo because it is built in the top of a rock that resembles a "piece of cheese."
À esquerda podemos ver o Forte de São Francisco Xavier. Em posição dominante sobre o oceano Atlântico e a pouca distância da foz do rio Douro, é também conhecido como "Castelo do Queijo" por, segundo a tradição, ter sido edificado sobre uma rocha de granito arredondada, e com um formato similar ao de um queijo.

ReplyDeleteThat's a very interesting sculpture on the waterfront. The terrain looks more flat and the building more modern (stern) than the place you showed us last time. I like the traditional buildings best with their colourful rooftops but this way there is something for everyone. Thanks for visiting my blog.
