I love so much the series COASTAL (LITORÂNEAS) paintings, created by the painter and sculptor Eduardo P. Lunardelli. Eduardo is a great artist born in São Paulo, Brazil. He is also a very active and creative blogger. He is a very nice friend of mine, a virtual friend till now. His main blog is the prestigious "VARAL DE IDEIAS" that means in English "Clothesline of Ideas", where he focuses mainly artistics themes: painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, photography, and son on. Eduardo moved from São Paulo to Santa Catarina in 2000 and chose the beautiful beach of Ibiraquera, in Imbituba, to live, build his house and his studio, that he named "Piacaba". (Piacaba means observatory in tupi-guarani language). From the balcony of his charming house all covered with ivy, he sees a gorgeous view of the sea and the beach, which are a constant source of inspiration to him. Eduardo says that when he moved to Santa Catarina, the astonishing beauty of the place come nearly to hinder his creativity to paint. He relates: "Some friends of mine commented that I had chosen the wrong place for an art studio. Only a writer can have a little house on the mountain and get inspired with the scenery. Artists have to suffer for their life ..." So, continues Eduardo, "The solution came by accident. I had earned years before a portable easel that I had never used till now. I still kept them intact in the box. One day I put a lot of dyes and brushes on it and went along the coast, from the Batuta Island to the Imbituba Harbor, doing some little acrylic canvas. The constant wind had incorporated a lot of sand to the painting. So, there were many months, that actually gave me much pleasure and resulted in 53 small canvases painted "in loco". With this I could know in details, stones, trees, mountains, wonderful beaches and headlands of the Brazilian coast. That was in 2003.
Once these are done, the paintings formed an enjoyable ensemble. Thus our friend Vincenzo Scarpellini, convinced my son Guilherme, photographer, to make a book: LITORÂNEAS. As the book is not yet published, I have been showing these paintings on my blog"
