Walking around my garden this morning I photographed the first pink flowers blooming on the Ipê-Rosa (Pink Tabebuia) tree, in this season. Before blooming, the leaves fall down on the grass and in few days this tree will be full of pink flowers. I love the sound of dry leaves crunching under my footsteps and skittering along the ground with the wind...
A solitary tiny flower... If you look with attention at the right of the flower you can see a nest of the Rufous Hornero (Furnarius Rufus), that is one of the Ovenbirds. This bird is very common in Brazil, and in the South America. Here in Brazil his common name is João-de-barro. ("barro" means "clay" in Portuguese). They are often seen on the ground collecting mud or dung to build their remarkable nests. These nests looks like miniature versions of the type of oven that you can see outside many houses in rural South America. Hence the name "Ovenbirds" in English.
Uma solitária florzinha... Se você olhar com atenção à direita da flor você poderá ver uma casa de João-de-barro ou forneiro (Furnarius rufus).

Hi Sonia, You're in the pink! I liked learning about the oven bird.
ReplyDeleteOh Sonia....This Tree is simply AMAZING!!! The Blooms are exquisite---beyond words! I love seeing the hidden yellow interior in your closer look at those two Blossoms...And that Blanket of Pink--almost a Lavender once it has fallen---on the ground from your older post----Well, it is quite extraordinary! The whole tree is Breath-Taking, my dear.....! To have such a fabulous tree right there next to your House....That has to Lift the Spirits in a Big Big Way!!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could take some Video of the tree when it comes into Full Bloom...Yes? I hope you will. It is the closest I will ever get to seeing it "live", if you do.....lol!

Oh...He is such a cute little Bird....BEAUTIFUL Markings....I've never seen him before! I love that you often have nests in your trees....! And in the pictures it looks like they have 4 or 5 eggs...! Also, in some of the photos the nest looks like a little round Hut...!
