TAPESTRIES AND CROCHET

This is my submission for today's Photo Friday theme Textured

Crochet tablecloth made by my grandmother. My grandmother was a very talented artisan and her crochets were very beautiful.

These table runners and tapestries were woven in wool by my mother. My mother was a very creative, talented and an enthusiast wool weaver and teacher. She made many beautiful tapestries, rugs, blankets, ponchos, scarves, placemat set, cushion covers, table runners, bags, purses and so on.

  3. Beautiful stuff, Sonia! I took a weaving class in the 70's and made many things, but all I have left is one wall hanging, one purse and one pillow. They aren't as good as the ones your mom did.

    Beijos.

  8. Isn't it interesting Sonnia, my grandmother crocheted too! That is a BEAUTIFUL tablecloth...
I remember some of your Hanging Tapastries that your mother made from a post quite a while ago...These are really fantastic! My mother was an expert swer, too, though she did not make tapastries....! And I am a terrible sewer---though one year I did about 70 Cross-Stitch peices and gave them as Christmas and Hanukah gifts...But, other than that, sweing/crocheting, etc is not something I ever learned to do "well". I don't even knit! (lol)
Are you a Needle Expert, Sonia?

  9. Sonia,

Do you do needlework, too? Often, Mothers teach daughters the skill. I don't have it but wish I'd learn.

My absolute favorite is the crocheted tablecloth!!! Lovely! And the colors of those tapestries are so warm and bright.

    I Love Your Colors!

  10. Thank you all for the visit and nice comment about my mother and grandmother's works.

Naomi and Mary: I am not an expert in knit, crochet and weave. Unfortunately I have not any talent to handicraft.

  14. Sonia, if you are not talented in knitting, crocheting, or weaving, at least you appreciate the beauty in it. I admire people with such talent.

  25. Hi Sonia - lovely ...and your grandmother's crochet cloth ... beautiful ... I don't think our family fell into this category of creative works! I have photo of my great aunt knitting (perhaps crocheting?!) ... but we never did and none of us do now ... gardening yes, cooking yes, ... but times change ... cheers Hilary
