FLORA, MY ADORABLE FRIEND!

To you all that did not "meet" her yet, this is my dear Flora!
.
Flora loves so much to go for walks and when she suspects it is time for a walk and she sees the leash she gets very excited and does a "happy dance". She literally jumps in the air and spins in circles. She is anxious to go!
.

Here you see Flora and Carlos.

Flora loves to catch the ball and run around the yard.

Flora does not like to be photographed. That’s always a challenge! She tends to get very shy and scary when she sees a camera. She hates the camera! She turns away her face or she lay down on the ground. So it is hard to get a good photo of Flora! I think she is afraid of it, either the flash or camera itself. I was wondering if anyone knows why?

As usual Flora hides from the camera when she sees me coming to film or photograph her.

Flora just doesn’t know how to pose for the camera

My daughter Sofia and Flora at my garden. Flora looks for her ball under Sofia's shoes.

But I always sneaked her in few photos.

Wow Flora, Laura is right, you are smiling!

You look so pretty!

  8. Flora is a pretty dog, Sonia, I like her mottled colors. Maybe the flash on the camera hurts her eyes?

  12. A lovely set of photo's, Sonia. Flora looks like a very content and happy dog, which is always a clear indication of the kindness of their owners; I bet you bring a lot of pleasure to each others lives.

Thank you for all the encouraging comments you've left on my site, and for the link in your blogroll. I would have come over to thank you earlier, but I've been preoccupied (not to mention totally frustrated) with the site design. I think I'm happy with the layout at last, now I just need to find the time, energy and inspiration to create some meaningful content :)

    Thanks again,

    Martin

  14. Such nice pictures of your Flora ! She seems to have a good appetite too, lol !

  15. She looks like a great dog! You got some really good pictures of her despite her dislike for the camera.

It might be the flash. Or it could be she feels threatened by it -- the lens looks like a giant eye to them, and direct eye contact is a sign of aggression.

  16. Love the one where she's looking around the door - she certainly looks uneasy!

Wow, is that a DAM? Very large. I am envious (10th year of drought here).

  21. Sonia, Flora might not have a face every mother will love (like my dogs) but they warm your heart. I loved this post. She looks like a sweetie!

My oldest dog, Chloe, used to snap and snarl at the camera. But since I've been consistent with it, she accepts it now and doesn't care anymore.

Bella, my younger dog, is a chronic head-turner. I rarely get her to look at me!

Thanks for visiting. I'm going to put you on my blog roll.

By the way, your daughter is gorgeous.

  26. Flora is a beauty even if she is camera shy. Cookie is camera shy, too. Flora looks like she has border collie or cattle dog in her. Do you know her breed? How old is she? Your daughter is a cutie, too.

  27. Thank you for your visit today Sonia...Always lovely to read your comments.

I love that picture of Flora peeking sheepishly around the corner...and that other one down lower where she looks like she is actually smiling...! Such a dear dear doggie...!

  29. Hi Sonia. I especially like the photo of Flora smiling. It's always wonderful to see your photos, to see the sunlight and the colours - especially now when here in Wales it is gray and raining.

  30. Thank you all for the visit and nice comment about Flora!

Britt-Arnhild, Flora is 9 years old.

Fran, like you, I also think that Flora looks like she has border collie or cattle dog in her. I don’t know her breed, because she was rescued by my daughter Sofia at the campus of her University and the mother of Flora was a stray dog.

  31. Ilove the running photos. She is so sweet. Give her a scratch behind the ear for me.

  34. Treasure your darling fur angel.
They are so devoted and loving and kind.
We lost our Princess Abbey this year our beloved fur angel and our cat Sir Spencer is on borrowed time.
Both were treated like royalty as is your fur angel.

  35. Thanks for stopping by to see Roxy. She says "Hello" to Flora, who is sooooo cute! She seems so happy.

I was thinking about why she might not like the camera. It looks like it is a big eyeball, and since she is a docile or submissive dog, it is like a dominant dog is staring her down. To a submissive dog this means she needs to put herself "lower" than the other dog, or to make herself as small as possible, so as not to give out signals that she is a challange to the other dominant dog. Maybe that is it?

    Thanks for sharing!

  40. Flora is obviously very happy to accompany you and Carlos on your daily walks. What a sweet dog she is. We had a cat once that was not happy to have his picture taken so I rarely got a good photo of him. You captured Flora's personality beautifully, in spite of her shyness in front of the camera.
What a beautiful place you have to walk every day Sonia! xoxox

  41. Sonia, your little Flora is absolutely adorable! And how much your love and kindness show in her personality. :) As for camera shyness, all of my pets, dog or cat, have been afraid of the camera, but I don't know why. I have heard from friends that if you can get the animals accustomed to it from a young age, it's much better for their anxiety.

Keep those Flora pics coming! :)

  42. Oi Sonia!
Deu saudades.
    Beijos.

  44. Sonia, thank you so much for introducing me to Flora! She's a great friend, no doubt. I've heard that having a beloved pet in your life lowers your blood pressure, a fact that i consider icing on the cake. The cake is their unconditional love for us, their humans.

  45. Adorei a sua Flora. Ela fofa, elegante e muito esperta e brincalhona. E que delícia ter uma lugar assim para correr com ela e brincar. No Stress!

  46. ah, flora is adorable. and she has speckles, like Riley!

riley doesn't like being photographed, either. i think it scares him to see something held in front of my face. i'm not sure.... but i know that when he's being crazy and running around and i lift up the camera to video him, he immediately stops whatever it was he was doing.

    crazy dog.

i bet he and flora would be great pals. (he loves other dogs if they are smaller than he is.)

  47. Hello Sonia!

Yes, Flora and Shandi look a lot a like! And Shandi does not like to have her picture taken either (she will not look directly at the camera). Over the past year, I have thought many times about where Shandi would be and what her life would be like if we hadn't rescued her.

Flora is absolutely adorable. The love of a dog is a kind of love that is unmatched by anything else. It is a very special thing indeed!

I'm curious as to what brought you to my blog?

  49. Flora is such a lovely-looking dog. I did not see these photos but I've seen other photos that you posted of her. I DO see the similarities with Menina. That's why I called Menina her New York cousin. ;-)

Please give Flora an extra treat on my behalf and thanks for showing me these photos. They made my heart smile.

    Paz
