Smothered tree... Árvore emaranhada...

A native tree grows many times ago at the edge of Jurimirim Dam, near my house. This tree have been smothered by a kind of climber shrub, but I don't know the name of this invasive plant. Maybe there are a lot of birds and insects nests inside their leaves and twigs branches.

I named that tree as "Captain Hook" and "Ghost Tree" on the post I did in October 03, 2007.

Photos taken by myself.

  1. I wonder what it is about that tree that the 'plant' decided it would be a perfect home for it? So very very interesting, Sonia.....Nature is fantastic, isn't it? Do you see Birds flying in and out of the Plants that has taken over the tree?

  4. What a strange-looking tree - it's surprising it can survive with all that invasive growth. I love the setting by the river.

  6. We have something similar out here, an invasive plant called Witches Broom. It smothers natives given half a chance. It's interesting, isn't it? You'd think the natives would be able to fight back.
