For my entire life, I have
been surrounded by antiques at my mother and grandmother's houses and being
fascinated with everything in their homes. I have in my home
many antiques I love and every piece has a
story and remember my family and my childwood. My daughter Sofia also loves antiques and I love to give her many pieces to decorate her home. I show up some of my preferred on that antique dressing table made by Carrara marble rose, that also was a gift of my grandmother.

cresci cercada por antiguidades, tanto na casa de minha avó quanto na casa de
minha mãe. Louças e móveis antigos sempre me encantaram e até hoje ainda
mantenho alguns em casa. Cada um deles conta uma história e evoca lembranças da minha família e da minha infância. Minha filha Sofia também adora estas peças antigas e eu a presenteio
sempre com algumas delas. Coloquei minhas peças favoritas em cima desta penteadeira de mármore de Carrara rosa, que também foi presente de minha avó.
My great-gradmother used this delicate jar to store face powder. Minha bisavó usava essa delicada jarrinha para colocar pó-de-arroz.
When I was a kid I used to play with that tea set. Quando criança eu brincava com este joguinho de chá.
My kid's bowl cereal. Meu pratinho de cereal.
My great-grandmother's butter dish. Mantegueira que foi da minha bisavó.

wow so many beautiful and precious items. it's so nice to see that the appreciation of antiques was passed down from one generation to another in your family. now you and your daughter can share the love of collecting antiques together.

Your love of family shines through here, Sonia. So rare to have that sort of intergenerational connectivity in this new, sometimes more coarse, century. The marble is sublime.

ReplyDeleteEven if I think I am able to recognize marble, we have not been able to recognize what our countertops in our new home are made of: marble or granite! lol and nobody coming by seems to know either.
I like to use everything I got from both our families and give what we don't use to the children if they want it which is not always the case :-( Not easy to move from one place to another though.
That is an impressive selection of antiques. We don't have any in our house, everything's too new (except this antique computer I'm using while my main one is being fixed). But maybe one day some of the things we own will be antiques!

I really like the pink jar with the white flowers on it, it's beautiful! My mother has many of her mother's and grandmother's things, I enjoy looking at them.
ReplyDeleteyou and I share some common objects. I had a grandmother whose home was filled with what would become antiques. She lived from 1900 - 1995. The bowel with the rabbits on the edge (I used as a cereal bowel). The rose colored glass (I have a lamp base using ruby glass). And the Chinese blue porcelain plate. All so pretty. Yes, memories
