Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim (January 25, 1927 – December 8, 1994), also known as Tom Jobim, was a Brazilian songwriter, composer, arranger, singer, and pianist and guitarist. He was a primary force behind the creation of the bossa nova style, and his songs have been performed by many singers and instrumentalists within Brazil and internationally. Widely known as the composer of "The Girl from Ipanema" (Garota de Ipanema), one of the most recorded songs of all time, Jobim has left a large number of songs that are today included in the standard Jazz and Pop repertoires.

    I heard the Girl from Ipanema played less than 1 hour ago!
    And I have never heard of Tom Jobin but you always introduce me to new things and people.

    What a treat, Sonia....I have always loved Jobim and his music, AND, I love the softness of his voice---it suits what he writes so beautifully---Such tenderness....

    The third video "crashed" almost at the very beginning...not sure why. But I'm going to go on YouTube to try to find it....I LOVE this particular song.....!

    I went away and came right back and HOW INSENSITIVE played!!! How Beautiful...I love the chord progressions in that song---And the Piano & Guitar...LOVELY, LOVELY, lovely! The BOSSA NOVA style of music is so very BEAUTIFUL!!!
