OLD SCHOOL... ANTIGA ESCOLA... (1894-1905)

The "Normal School Caetano Campos" founded in March 16, 1846, today named "State School Caetano de Campos", worked in the building attached to the the old Sé Cathedral and was tranfered in 1984 to the building designed by Antonio Francisco de Paula Sousa and Ramos de Azevedo at Republic Square, where currently is installed the Secretary of Education of the State of São Paulo.

  6. How beautiful! They don't build schools that look like that anymore.

Interesting that no one smiles in the pictures though. They must have been very strict in those days. And the gym uniforms are... a little different from today :)

    Hope you're having a gorgeous Sunday x

  10. Thank you so much for sharing these. And am I the only one who loved the little kid who stuck out his tongue?

  11. Your high school building is very beautiful and historic too. The old pictures really give us a feeling about how it was then. The classroom looks like the classroom I had in elementary school in France – and that was not in the late 1800s!

  13. It's so much fun to see these old photos, Sonia. I love the girls' dresses. And I'm glad Hiker pointed out the kid sticking out his tongue or I would've missed it! I guess kids back then were pretty much the same as they are now.

  14. That school at the top looks so much like the school building in Santa Cruz California. The community fought to save that building, and it's such a beauty, just like the one you show here. You have a lovely blog.
