  5. What a great post - one of your best!
    I love everything about it.
    Snoopy's dark and stormy night.
When I was little and stayed at my grandmother's, in the bottom drawer in the room where my mum and aunt used to sleep, there were piles of old Peanuts books from when they were kids - I used to love to read them.
And also when I was little, Jerry Lewis movies on the tv on a Saturday afternoon were my favourite - and I will always remember the typewriter scene - it's brilliant.

I love your very own typewriter and I love all the photos of the writers with their typewriters.
I especially love GBS's short pants.

    Just wonderful!

I think I must have been one of the last classes at school to learn how to use the typewriter because when I was about 15 computers took over. I'm sooooo glad I learned how to touch-type, it's made using a keyboard so much easier. When I worked in an office with people a little younger than myself - they all used the two finger typing method.

  6. What a wonderful post!
    I was fascinated.
I always had a portable typewriter but what happened to them I don't know!
How much better a computer is!

When you messed up on a typewriter, you had to re-do the whole page.
    Greetings from me and Buster.

  7. Sonia,

  9. What a delightful post!

I'm afraid I AM old enough to remember typewriters. I had several over the years from uni days right up to the mid-80s. Then of course, Apple took over.

I can't say I miss the blanko, twisted typewriter ribbons, getting ink on my fingers and the horror of editing! What editing?! That is one thing I really REALLY appreciate about the compuater :)

Obrigada as lembrancas!

  14. What a great piece Sonia!!I have moved about and lost the 3 typewriters that were very meaningful to me. One was an old green one with metal rounded keys. My Mom used it in business. She told me that typewriter made a bunch of money for her. I had 2--a portable one for college and a Selectric II. I loved my beige selectric and it was a companion along with "white-out and lift off tape" for years!!Snoopy and his typewriter is a wonderful banner. Have a great weekend. Sunny and nice here today!!!

  15. What a wonderful idea Sonia. It brings back lots of memory's...Over the years, I have had two or three typewriters---I still have my last one. I wrote all my plays on it and many many long letters, too...! It was electric and I remember thinking how fantastic it was, at the time......(lol)....But, of course, it was really fantastic, until the computer came along.
I remember all the Carbon Paper I used to use....Oh My, that seems a long time ago....! But I have great fondness for those trpewriter's and great memories of them, too....Great Post, my dear.

  16. I'm old enough that I've used a typewriter - in fact I learned to type on one. That skill has served me well in my computer career.

  17. Sadly, I do not remember my old typewriter fondly. I am NOT a good typist. I much prefer my computer...with spell check. :)

  23. I've never owned a typewriter, but I did type on quite a few when I worked in the offices of employers. Keyboards now have a much nicer feel to them.

  24. Oh, I missed this posting! Love it..I can just feel the concave buttons. my family did not keep the typewriter...sadly. I think I'm on the edge of the timeperiod where I actually remember 'typewriting' in high school...more correctly-keyboarding. My children did not experience this and have never typewrited! kind of sad
    another great post :)
