"WALKING ON WATER"... "ANDANDO SOBRE AS ÁGUAS"...

These photos shows up the changes on water level in Jurumirim Dam. This difference could be related to the rainfall and water level variations. Water level are significantly higher in April-July and lower in November-February. In last July we had heavy rainfall, therefore the high water level in Jurumirim Dam.

Photo taken by my son Fernando in 2004.
That red arrow pointed to the stonewall at the beach shows the low level of the water in Jurumirim Dam and on the picture below, you can see the high level of the water. Esta flexa vermelha apontando para a mureta de pedras na praia mostra o baixo nível a que chegou a água na Represa Jurumirim. Na foto abaixo você pode ver como o nível da água está alto.

With the high level of the water, my daughter Sofia can to climb up on the stonewall. She had a lot of fan! Com o alto nível da água minha filha Sofia pôde subir na mureta de pedras e se divertiu muito!

Photos taken by Carlos A. Mascaro. Those photos of the high level of the water were taken last weekend near at our house.

  4. That's a huge difference in the water level! Last year we had some water restrictions as water levels in the lakes dropped, but this year we have had a lot of rain and so there is water enough for watering the grass and washing the cars!

  14. Wow! That is quite a difference in the water level between summer and winter. Great shots!

We have reservoirs filled by the snow melt from the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and they vary greatly in water level, too

  17. Amazing how the water levels change. Great pictures of your daughter too!

There is a lake in the southwest US called Lake Mead. I recall visiting this lake five or six years ago and being surprised at the visible water lines and docks that no longer came close to the water's edge. They say that overuse of this water will cause the lake to completely dry up by 2021.

  25. That is of course the prupose with a dam, to keep the water when it comes and let i go when needed. As long as the highs and the lows are not exceeding what you show, I guess you can just be happy about it! Sofia seems to take some (limited) risks! :-)
