NATIONAL DOG DAY


Today is the National Dog Day in USA. Here in Brazil the Dog Day is in October 4th. Created by the National Dog Day Foundation, National Dog Day has two goals: to honor dogs and to rescue dogs from homelessness and abuse. It's an opportunity for us to recognize and appreciate the value and importance of dogs in our lives.


I just found in Jan, from "The Pritz Family" , in Dot, from "Strolling Through Georgia (and Sometimes Alabama)" and in Shammickite, from "Rook's Nest", a nice homage to their dogs. I like to join this homage, posting photos of my adorable friend Flora. By the way, as Flora was rescue as a little puppy by my daughter, no one knows exactly when Flora was born... then Sofia chooses September 3th. Flora will be eleven years old soon.

    No wonder you love Flora, she's just great. We've picked birthdays for some of our dogs, too. We always thought, it's good to have a birth date.

    Flora reminds me so much of my dog when I lived at home with my parents. Her name was Kippy and she was so smart and sweet. Happy Birthday, Flora!

    What a cute dog Flora is. I just bet she is spoiled too! I really didn't know there was such a thing as National Dog Day until Jan mentioned it. I think it's a nice day and remind us in October and we'll celebrate it again. Gypsy was actually born in October.

    a dog day is such a great idea! Romania should also adopt this idea, there are so many poor and abused dogs here :((. but from time to time also good things happen, like with your Flora!

    We have no National Dog Day in France.Flora seems to be very happy at your home. My husband and I have no dog anymore. I will tell hello on next October 4.

    Oh Sonia...Such GREAT GREAT Pictures of dear sweet Flora! She is a Noble Dog. And so pretty! I love the Header picture a lot, a lot! She looks like she is almost 'in flight'....And having such a great time.

    Flora don't has any pedigree. She is a mutt. But as she has some spots on legs and neck, maybe your ancestral was a Pointer... who knows...

    Dogs are such faithfull companions - Flora looks like a sweet dog. I guess it is good to give them recognition, especially when one sees how badly some people treat theiir dogs.
